Word Fun With Puzzlemaker
I found another site that can provide offline fun for the family. It’s good to have a balance of online and offline fun, right? Right.
From the makers of Discovery.com, DiscoverySchool’s Puzzlemaker gives you a great way to create your own puzzles. And they have quite a list to choose from:
- Word search (my favorite!)
- Mazes
- Crosswords
- Cryptograms
- Math square
- Fallen phrases
- and more!
Just think about the benefits making your own puzzles. When you’re in the car to grandma’s or just need to give your kids a different option for playtime — you can customize your own puzzles, and make them not only age-appropriate, but you can also use words to reinforce something you’re trying to teach them.
Want them to think about web safety? Enter those words to create a word search. How about their vocabulary words for school? Yep, crosswords or something like it. They don’t have to know you’re teaching them. They just think it’s fun.
