Why Are Kids Chillin’ with Club Penguin?
New here? You may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
When my kids first asked me if they could join Club Penguin, I was reluctant to give my permission. It’s a place where kids interact with other kids and I didn’t think I was ready for that. But after carefully reviewing what it has to offer I thought I’d let them take the plunge.
Club Penguin is a virtual world where kids, ages 8 to 14, are represented by penguin caricatures and can interact with other “penguins”. During the process of creating an account parents are asked to include their own password and email as well, thus giving them control should they feel the need. What I find nifty about this sign-up process is that it offers an appropriate age level for your child to join. Additionally, you can select what type of chatting capabilities you want your child to have: Standard or Ultimate.
I find these names a little misleading because you’d think “ultimate” would mean you would have all sorts of features available to your child to chat with anyone. Not so. “Ultimate” offers your child the ability to select from “canned” questions and responses; “standard” is the one that lets them type in whatever they want to other penguins.
Once your account is created, you’re dropped in the middle of a snowy town along with a lot of other penguins. It’s here you’ll find a gift shop, coffee shop, and a nightclub that are places you can visit. Now don’t let that last place scare you off! It’s just a place where you can have your penguin dance to the music.
If you tire of the place you’re in, click on the map icon and select another place to be immediately transported. Each place offers something worth exploring and some places even include games. Some games can be played with other penguins, while others are designed for one player. After you play each game you are rewarded with coins. Collect enough of them and you can “buy” things like puffles (a fur-ball pet) to take care of, and colors to change the look of your penguin.
You can also become someone’s buddy if invited, or invite others to be yours. Becoming a buddy with someone means you can send them a letter. You do this by using the built-in service (communicating outside Club Penguin is not possible). You can also quickly visit a buddy’s virtual home (or “igloo”, to use the vernacular) and see what they’ve done with the place.
Everywhere you go in penguin-land is the all-seeing moderator, which is represented by the capital “M” on a shield of gold. So if anything gets out of hand, they’ll step in and stop it. You can also report abuse to them. Club Penguin is qualified for the Better Business Bureau - Kid’s Privacy Seal of Approval, which should help put your mind at ease.
Basic membership is free, but premium membership offers you the ability to purchase more items of clothing to dress-up your penguin, decorate your igloo, and buy more puffles if you wish.
I find Club Penguin to be a good place for my kids to visit.
Summary
- As with any site that allows you to interact with other people, it’s quite possible someone could misrepresent themselves. So you and your child should always keep your guard up.
- Club Penguin is moderated which means someone is supposed to be watching what’s going on and prevent inappropriate behavior.
- Offers a safe way to chat with others, but it’s possible something offensive may slip through.
- Allows a child to express himself by obtaining colors and things to decorate themselves or their igloo with.

I knew I had seen this somewhere. Club Penguin. Ken Cooper has a posting about it on his site familywebwatch.com. (he says he is down with the Penguins so it’s all good). It sounds a bit like second life for kids. Anastasia and I had a deal because she was giving her email address out all over the place, which I am NOT comfortable with. So she now signs up as me,
Yes, it is a very good site. It is alot better than the other online games i’ve seen and it’s kid-safe. i like the community because it is fun for the kid and i wouldn’t have to worry. I was worried about inappropriate behavior but club penguin is very safe.
I’m sorry to say, but I don’t think this site is nearly as safe as everyone seems to think. My daughter’s friend (both are 8 yrs old) introduced this site to us and it seemed alright at first. Then they saw 2 penguins kissing and one of them said to the other “Come with me sweetie” and they left. The friend told me that a penguin was following her around, asking where she lived, her age, name…That sounds more like a predator than another kid. There is a lot of publicity about how safe this site is, yet anyone could lie about their age to get on and talk to your kids! I wouldn’t let my daughter hang around with real, live 14 year olds we don’t know and I don’t see this as any different.
Hi Ann, no site is perfectly safe, but CP does do a good job in the way of keeping people from finding out about someone’s profile or contacting members outside of CP.
I have to wonder about this 8-year-old friend telling you about what she saw though. Penguins kissing? There’s no way to do that and I have to think that the makers of CP would get a lot of heat from parents if they did offer it as an action and remove it in short order. What I do find odd is that the moderators didn’t step in while this behavior was going on. Perhaps she was referring to the heart emoticon that can be displayed?
But I have to agree with you that, like most sites, there’s no way of proving your age, so yes, lying is most definitely an issue. And I, too, did see a penguin or two asking for ages, or if someone was a boy or girl, etc.
The thing to remember here is that the only way you can find where another penguin is in CP, two things have to exist: first, that person has to be on your buddy list; second, that person has to be online. Additionally, aside from reporting a harasser to the moderators, if someone is bugging you, you can remove that person from your buddy list.
Yes I am a kid and I play club penguin and penguins cannot kiss it is impossible even if they found a way to hack in (which I highly dowt) it wouldt work and like Ken said there is a Ignore Player button where they are removed from your buddy list and when they type somthing your penguin does not see what the Ignored Player said and the moderators are all around club penguin and each penguin has its own file were if the Moderators are sent a “report player” thing they can check the file of that penguin and see what he/she did and or said and if they found somthing inapropriate they will ban that certain penguin for 24 hours and if they are banned to many times that penguin will be banned forever and can NEVER log back on. P.S. I am a kid so some of the spelling might be wrong.
Club penguin is an amazing website! But the only problem is all of the cheat websites! I really want to be a moderator so i can get rid of these websites. Im not 18 though and i dont live in Wherever Im sopposed to live.Oh well. My penguin is snowball1912.
hi! i have a penguin (Mjesec), and i like this game a lot. i asked my mom can i become a member and she wont let me. this is a really safe and really fun game for kids. im really sad that i cant be member. its a shame that parents cant even look what it is, but they can say no to this.
if a worried parent is reading this i recommend you let your kid play this game and let them become a member couse this is the best game ever.
CLUB PENGUIN ROCKS!!!!!!
Just to clarify what zrak is saying, when he says he wants to become a member it’s to be a paid subscriber. Basic membership is free and offers loads of things to do. But the main difference between a free member and a paid member is that as a paid member you can “buy” items from their catalog using the coins you collect when playing games.
But I agree, Club Penguin does have a high entertainment value.
i am a kid and i go on club pengiun and it’s really good.
and Ken, what harm is going to be done if someone far away knows how old you are and wether you’re a boy or a girl?
besides if someone asks you where you live you can just report them.
PS my penguins name is taily, i you see me say hi!
Taily, you are correct in that you can report inappropriate behavior. The act of asking someone their age in CP isn’t necessarily harmful, but it does raise suspicion as to why you’re being asked in the first place. And because people give that information out willingly only serves to encourage predators even more. One thing leads to another, and another and so on.
I’m glad you’re enjoying CP. Stay safe and continue to have fun!
well…i think club penguin is a resonably safe computer game for the age group provided but i do admit there are some exeptions to the rule…and whoever said they saw kissing…nope.
GO MEMBERS!!!!!(IM ONE)
cocopuff
Club Penguin is really safe and parents don’t have to worry about their children being on it.You’re not allowed to give personal information like your phone number or where you live.People can report other “penguins” to a moderater if they’re not treating others very nicely or if they ask for personal information. You can also press the ignore button on another penguin’s player card so if they say something mean you can’t see it.(And there is no way that penguins can kiss,Ann,its impossible,so dont waste your time in trying to convince parents that its not safe when it is perfectly safe.)Club penguin was rewarded with the Better Business Bureau kids privacy seal of Approval award and the kids choice award. It’s a brilliant website and great fun to play.I hope it remains for years to come.
-Karen age 13.
I Play club penguin and im 11. your allowed to tell your age and were you live (which means Country EG. UK, USA like that. On Ultimate chat, you have to use what words club penguin give you and they give you
How old are you? so its fine. Club penguin u cannot Kiss but you can put a ”Heart” emotion up… but thats ok.
Ann, Some words get blocked even on normal chat so he couldnt asked your daughters name these are some words that get blocked:
Name
Swear Words (you get banned and no1 heres u say it.)
Rude Words
Weirdo
Fatty
Fat
Theres to much more to say!!!
Club Penguins Safe, I Play im called Blue Pingu
I guess your right, Ken, although for an wary 11 year old like
me i never get closer than boy or girl and what age i am, a
nieve (sorry I can’t spell) 7 year old might think there’s no harm
in one of there “friends” knowing where you live.
i epreshiate ( there’s my bad spelling again)poeple not telling me
how old they are, but I like to know because then i feel more
comfortable knowing wether i’m talking to a 5 year old or an 14 year old.i don’t know why, it’s just this wierd thing i have.
but Ann…
1.you can’t kiss on cp
2.adults are always telling us about how love is “the greatest force” and that jazz, and then 2 kids get invovled in it and you act like they’re doing some unforgivable crime
bye
now that i have had a little more experience with my daughter being on club penguin I would agree that it is very entertaining for her I but I would put a couple warnings to parents:
1. the club membership (aka paid service) is equivalent to getting into a lineup to pay for your groceries and having all the candy right there next to you while you wait - Mommy can i pullleeeeaaasssseeeeee have some chocolate!- while my daughter accepted my ‘i am not paying for virtual coins’ logic, she looked at me VERY disappointed and continues to try from time to time to get me to give in
2. My daughter called me to the computer one day bc she had a penguin stalker. No matter where she went, the stalker penguin followed. When she told the penguin to stop, the penguin threatened to report her. This freaked my daughter out but at the same time, the fact that this penguin was actually talking and interacting with her kinda made her not want to do the ‘disappearing thing’ (you can block weird penguins from not being able to follow you). She needed me there to tell her that the penguin was creepy and she should block them regardless (the penguin was definately not 10)
Oh, and Taily, I can’t spell either….and I am close to 40 ![]()
I am still hesitant to allow my child to sign up.
It defin. looks like fun but the computer scares me.
Thanks for all of the info.
Hi J,
I understand your concern about computers, but if I may, I’d like to encourage you to overcome that fear. Parents who avoid this “window to the world” are allowing their children to venture out without their guidance. You’d have to really try hard to break or delete something, so either read up on the subject or take a class — something to bring you up to speed and know what your child is up to. ![]()
I am pretty convinced that CP is rather safe as far as how CP monitors chat sessions, controls vocabulary and provide facilities like the “Ignore button”, etc.
I know there are kids posting to this site in defense of CP’s safety and fun. HOWEVER, parents, let us not overlook the obsession this game creates. This is where the problem lies.
Kids are spending WAY TO MUCH TIME with this new thing, and CP does not give a flying !@!##$$#.
I have not seen any contribution toward learning or intellectual stimulation from CP. If CP had offered interactive educational games, like spelling Bee’s, fun debates, etc. I would not have minded so much if our kid were devoting a lot of time on it. For our kid, CP has been taking place of family interaction time, homework time, physical activity, eating, and even creating funky mood swings in our kid.
Granted, I am not be speaking for every kid out there, but I KNOW these are concerns shared by many parents. I just wondered why nobody else has come out with these concerns. We only allow 30 min of CP everyday for our kid, ONLY if homework is completed.
By the way, for those parents who wish they could monitor your kid’s interaction on the keyboard behind the scenes, get KeyLogger utility and view a log of every key that is entered in the keyboard. A very handy tool…http://www.spyarsenal.com/
Best Regards.
Parents,
This site is not harmful or scary or creepy, for all those stalking troubles out there, you can go to your igloo or thw hq if the stalker is a new person, or just ignore them, the stalker will get bored of following you. Anyway as soon as you can swap servers, they can not tell which server your on. I go on club penguin quite alot, about three hours a week i still get all of make homework done and i normally get about an A or A+ sometimes even A++. i have never expereinced any totally harmful things, they have the reprting system there for a reason. Most of the people who are having problems just haven’t been on club penguin enough to know what to do. parents there really is nothing to worry about.
Becky - age 11
Ken, you are absolutely right.
I should clarify my statement though, I have a fear of the internet (for my children), not computers.
I use both the computer and internet often.
I also fear the obsession it may create. It does look like a lot of fun, that is why I am researching it’s safety and any other issues.
That’s good to hear, J. I know exactly what you mean. I use K9 Web Protection for my home: http://www.k9webprotection.com/. It does a pretty good job of blocking unwanted material and parents can override when they think it’s necessary because sometimes there are false-positives. Another great thing about K9 is that it’s free.
I wish though that it had the ability to create profiles for different members of the family, that way you can have stricter settings for younger users. But it really hasn’t been a problem.
my name is oceanpaw on clubpenguin and i just want to reassure all parents out there.
it is phiscally impossible to kiss on clubpenguin because u are only a virtual person!!! duh!!! ur daughter might have meant the heart icon or she could have misunderstood or she could be lying though i dont no why she would lie! anyway do not worry all parents because why do u think they have ppl to look out and u can also report! i think club penguin is the best in the world and the most safe thing u can ever get. its soooo much fun! my friend was at my house the other day and i showed her clubpenguin and i guess she thought it looked a bit babyish but she DID look a bit interested. the next week or so i called her and i figured out that she has been playing clubpenguin since tyhe day i showed her it! and when i called her she was in the middle of playing it! she thought it was so cool! and F.Y.I 20 year olds play club penguin! anyway my message is just to say club penguin is totally safe. and i am 11 years old.

Hi, my penguin name is Zoufi. Here are the moderators name on CP:(dunno if all:)Speedybones,Billybob, rsnail, screenhog, Mace….Thats all i know.
+Club Penguin ROCKS! I am a member + I joined CP in : 11 March 2006!! I wonder if they’ll give me a present on my Bday!?!?!? If you want to see me I usually go to Blizzard
Until then… Waddle on!
I met a cute little penguin that was my age and they asked to be my buddy. We talked and played games. We both new from past experience that the other would always be online in the evening after our homework was done and our parents were busy doing other things. After about a month of sharing little tidbits of information (you know, stuff
that wouldn’t be picked up by a moderator), I felt pretty good about having this new friend because he said he was my age and we had so many other things in common,so we found a way to share even more information offline. My new friend said that they were 8 and liked a lot of the same things that I did so I told him to meet me after school to play
some basketball. I was so looking forward to meeting my buddy and I would really like to tell you how much fun we had, but I won’t be able to because my penguin buddy turned out to be someone different than they told me they were on CP.
hey zoufi just to answer ur question, no, they dont give u a present because my birthday was 2 or 3 weeks ago and i never got a present and i have been a member for like a year and a half. and kye i totally agree with you that ann is being unsensible and offensive to other ppl.if she didnt no then its ok but still not nice and be better at it! kye and any1 else who would like to meet me im a girl, my name is Oceanpaw, and im usually on the Mammoth server, Iceberg, Blizzard or anywhere else around that area but mostly the servers shown above. Bye bye for now and…Yawza!! ![]()
Hello Kye,
Thanks for pointing out the need to refrain from making unnecessary remarks toward other visitors. I’m excited to see such great interaction on this post, but when comments are not kept in check, it kind of brings down the mood.
I’d be interested in learning about other online things that everyone finds useful/entertaining. I recently posted an entry asking for such material (http://www.familywebwatch.com/blog/2007/02/19/open-invitation-whats-on-your-mind/). When I receive enough feedback, I’ll pull it all together for everyone’s benefit. ![]()
Hello,Ken
My name is Oceanpaw and I have kept track of this discussion. It is very frustrating to see what other people and parents think of Club Penguin. I, myself, find CP very entertaining and it also helps you to socialize with other players, in the game, or in real life. It definitely helped me anyway. But I realised parents have other ideas of CP. They think that it is dangerous and inappropiate.Well they definitely and truly, have the wrong idea. I have been a member of Club Penguin for over a year now, and I see that it is as safe as it can possibly get! And why do you think they have agents and able to report people and block words? It’s because it is safe. Oh, and is it fun! Lots of games, JetPack, CartSurfer, Ballistic Biscuit, Java Beans, Puffle Round-up and small mini games too! And you can also buy lots of different clothes! Party at the Night Club, make your igloo into whatever you fancy, or, turn it into a restraunt, hotel, cinema, camp-site and loads of other things! Talk, party, play with other penguins and make buddies! If your child have asked you,or will, to be allowed to play CP, and you decide to be against it and say no, you are making a big mistake. I know it would be up to you to let your child play it, but I am telling you now, CP is fun-filled and friendly for your child!
If you would like to answer to this, just type a messagew and I will see it.
From: Oceanpaw ![]()
Hi Oceanpaw,
Clearly you are web-savvy which most young people are. In contrast, there are a lot of parents who aren’t. The problem with that is, of course, that they decide to let their kids roam free on the Web.
You seem to have a pretty good head on your shoulders, so you’re the exception, but some kids lack the ability to make wise choices when interacting with complete strangers online. And why is that? My theory is because their parents are absent. So, that’s when we hear of the stories of kids meeting their online buddies in the real world only to find out that they’re completely different than what they were told, then it’s too late.
IMHO, parents allow themselves to be distracted and don’t have many good role models when it comes to parenting. Secondly, they have a fear of what they don’t understand. That’s a natural fear we all have. Frustrating, but true. So it’s easier to shy away from those types of things, and let somebody else deal with them.
I, too, find CP entertaining and agree that it has put in place appropriate safeguards to keep their environment safe. I’m not saying it’s 100% safe (no site is), but I appreciate the steps they’ve taken to put parents at ease and to give penguins a way of contacting the moderators when inappropriate behavior occurs.
I’m curious. What other online hangouts do you know about. I’d like to research them and write up an article like I’ve done for CP.
Thanks for your input, oceanpaw! ![]()
Hi oceanpaw, I just wanted to thank you for replying to my message.By the way, I wanted to ask you:Do you have a Moderator on your buddy list?? Or even have you ever seen a Moderator on one of the servers you said?? Finally, I wanted to tell you my scores on cart surfing
Scores:
Every turn in Cart Surfing I get 450 coins or more!!!!!! once I got 503 coins in only one turn of Cart Surfing. If you wanna know how just ask me!☺☻
Until Then…. Waddle on!
Hey Ken,
Thanks for replying to my message and I guess I got a little carried away and wrote too much. I always do that if I’m writing a story and I’m only supposed to write two pages but then I end up writing FIVE pages! I did that once! Or twice! Or maybe all the time! But anyway to answer your question about if I know any more online hang-outs, I do. I know one or two more. One of them is called World of Warcraft if you have ever heard of it. (By the way, this message might be long)
I have actually never went on to it and made an account but my brothers play it 24 7 unless they have to eat! I watch them play it often and they talk about it so much I know pretty much everything about it. It looks very fun I have to admit, and I might actually give in and make an account one of these days.
The other one I know about is called: IMVU. I don’t know much about that, only little snipets I know of what they tell you. But I actually made an account a while ago but I never get to play it because I figured out you have to download it. So I wasn’t too sure about that and it kept saying: If you TRUST your computer press the yellow bar to download it. I don’t know if I trust my computer so I never download it just in case it explodes or something. To find out more about IMVU and World of Warcraft type a message to ask me questions, Ken.
Now Zoufi,
To answer YOUR questions, I don’t know if there is a Moderator on my buddy list, and I never have seen a Moderator on the servers I hang out. And yes, I do want to know how you do so well in CartSurfer, because I am absolutely bad at making money! I want to find out more how you and me can hang out in CP.
From: Oceanpaw. ![]()
hi Ken! Bebo, Myspace, Windows Live Spaces and Zorpia are kinda similer to Club Penguin but they’re not as safe.
Hi me again,
I also know Runescape (Might possibly be a bit better than CP) which is extremely fun if you heard of it. I mean it is out of this world. It is way better than the other ones I mentioned. And I also know Bebo. But that is not exactly safe. It is just a gigantic chat room with loads of peoples sites. Runescape is AWSOME!!! I mean really it is!!
To learn more of Runescape, reply to me Ken, or other commenters.
From: Oceanpaw.
I am a child on CP and I feel it is perfectly safe. I get on there all the time and yes…they can ask for your age and if you are a boy or girl… but …there are millions of kids out there that are your age and gender. What could that hurt?
Hi again everyone, I have a few points to make…
World of Warcraft:
From what I’ve heard of people who play it, World of Warcraft is highly addictive and will take over your life.
RuneScape:
I used to play this waaay too much, at least 3 hours a day sometimes up to 5 or 6, it’s way too time-consuming, even if it did teach me a few things and it was fun, but there are too many ways of swearing on it and a lot of people get very upset over things within it.
Bebo:
Bebo is fun! Although it can be VERY unsafe, it’s a great way of keeping in touch with people, and I bump in to people I’ve known ages ago on it. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re under 13 though (I think there’s a minimum age limit too)
Club Penguin:
Cart Surfer is the fastest way of making money and I get 510+ on every game and my top score is 528 :D.
I’d like to know how many coins everyone here has, no-one discusses it ingame.
Hi,
To parents out there,
If your child tells you that they are on a chatroom make sure you know what chatroom, there are a number of gross websites, like kidschat.net that are really gross. One person told me they were 35! Just look out for your kids. Cause there are some really nasty websites
Club Penguin is the safest chat room that i have been on, also there is another chatroom called virtual magical kingdom or something it is disney and it is a really safe one, you can’t go on during school hours or anything. i know this because i went to this website when i was overseas. and i coudnt get on.
Tilly
-11
I am not that great at cartsurfer i have only had an accout 4 about a month but i get around 450+ each game.
Well. here I am. A parent. Web Savvy. I signed up on CP to check it out. I chose an age group of 11 and found that what Club Penguin considers inappropriate and what I consider inappropriate are two different things.
Even with the ‘ultimate’ restrictive chat, one is still able to select and answer questions such as how old are you, boy or girl? and where do you live? Locations can be narrowed down to the state level. I saw some penguins with what I consider inappropriate names. ‘Iamsexy’ and ‘Ilikeboyz’ are not what I call appropriate ‘names’ for the 8 year old crowd, but that might just be me.
I am still not convinced that Club Penguin is a ’safe’ area for my kids to play online, though I agree it is much safer that some areas on the net. Parents need to be involved in everything their kids are doing, and playing online is no different. My suggestion for any parent thinking about Club Penguin is to sign up yourself in the age group you would have your child in. Give yourself the same restrictions (or not) that you would impose on them, and then go online and look around and play on Club Penguin. If you think it is OK, then go from there. I would still recommend any parent allowing their child online for _anything_ to have the computer in a main room of the home and get up occasionally and look at the screen so you know what is going on.
Joeboy,in a way,you were breaking the rules by signing up as a child on Club Penguin when you’re an adult.I think it’s inappropriate that you give out about the website but you don’t play by the rules yourself.
Hi Karen,
I see your point, Karen, but in JoeBoy’s defense, I share in his approach. Not only does it show how easy it is to have someone signup and pretend to be someone they’re not, but I believe in his case he was merely attempting to get to know CP better for his kids. It’s one thing to watch over the shoulder of your kid playing on CP, and another to actually be in the driver’s seat.
It comes down to what that person is trying to achieve: are they just getting familiar with a system they’re thinking of letting their kids be a part of, or are they intending to lure other children into a trap?
My Child has been going on to Club Penguin for about a month, and i believe that this website is approriate fpr her age group and there is not many problems with it. I do now there is a few problems with the website but not every chatroom is perfect. And i believe it is a perfectly safe webiste with a few exceptions. I am not sayig you should not be checking on what they are doing because that is a very importasnt role as a parent to look out for your child but maybe just to go along with what they are doing. i believe this small topic has changed in to a debate about whether club penguin is safe or not. i believe club penguin is safe and as i wrote before with a few exceptions. parents out there, club penguin is as safe as a chatroom as you’re going to get.
i went on to the safe chatroom that tilly mentioned and my daughter and i found the chatroom a tad boring. and then without my daughter i looked at the inapropriate website and i found that it was exactly as tilly wrote gross and disgusting. the language was very revolting and the talk there was disturbing. after seeing that chatroom i decided to check out what google thought was “safe” chatrooms, i found exactly what i had found on the last websites.
after that i definently believed that club penguin was a safe website.
Hello,
I’m a reporter working on a story about Club Penguin. I’d love to talk to parents and kids who use the site. If you have a few minutes to talk please e-mail me at egreen@usnews.com.
Look forward to hearing from you,
Elizabeth
A couple days ago my 11 year old daughter came to me and said ” Mommy I love you so much ” After she said that i knew she wanted my money! I asked her what she wanted and she said she wanted to be a member on Club Penguin. Club What? I have never heard of this website before she told me it was only five dollars a month. She can be very convincing. She got A B honor roll on her recent report card and I was so proud of her. As a reward I let her be a member. This site is safe but the things i found very odd was.. People ask you what age u are, and if u are a boy or a girl. I told my daughter about how never give out personal info blah blah blah! I let her say if she is a boy or a girl. When someone ask for her age she says she is a tween. Another thing I found as a CON to this game is it is addictting! After 1 week i found my child coming home after school and first thing she would do is play club penguin. Then she would hold homework of to the last minute at 7:00 at night. When i discovered this Virtual Penguin Crap was taking a toll on my kids school work i put a stop to this game and made her do all of her homework before she got on Club Penguin. Now Club Penguin is not a game it is a Privilage!
I am 16 I have reviewed many websites As part of my Part of Aedolis (my website) I have to say I was more then impressed with Club Penguin. I thought I’d layout some Pros and Cons for you.
Pros:
Very Safe
No way of following (stocking) A kid
24-7 Moderators Online
Very fun (I’m 16 and you can find me on it a few hours every day)
Constantly updated. I never get board with a game coming out every other month (some times 3) A party atleast 1 weekend a month. New Cloths comming out every month
New rooms are also being added. And the games are all fun and there are many secerets to clubpenguin. Like the hiddin Vickings Helmet in every catalog.
Cons:
Mods accounts are being hacked recently. (Not very good for securety since I’m guessing any adult thats a “preditor” can hack A mods account) Even I can hack the account.
Very addicting. (and I’m 16 )
Please feel free to ask me any questions and by the way about the boy and girl what are you I know many young people that just want friends esspecialy kid I find get there first little crush at 12. And Also I dont belive any one mentioned ” that they donate monney to charaties to.
Hi Emma, I know just what you mean. Kids can be so persuasive. I even allowed my child to spend one month of his allowance just so he could be a full-fledge member and buy more things in the catalog he so desperately wanted.
There is a coolness factor that I think connects with kids. The fact that CP keeps things fresh by offering new games and secret pins and rooms make it all the more appealing. How many times I’ve seen my kids play a GameBoy game only to shelve it after they’ve beaten it! Not so, with CP. There’s always something that gets their attention.
And kudos to you for realizing she need her time to be curbed a bit. It’s hard, I know, but the right thing to do! ![]()
Becky and Andy, thanks for your input, too!
Hi, again, If you wanna know Kye, I’ve got 21,850 coins. Because of Cart Surfing. If you play CP go to the pizza Parlor, there’s the new game, Pizzatron. Wich Secret Agent Gary or Agent G created. If you didn’t know yet Dr. G(Gary) is an agent; there’s that mission wich is all about him. By the way, Ken do you have a penguin?? Please reply me thanks
Until Then…. Waddle on!
So Ken, you mean you have a penguin. I am a bit curious, Can you tell me your penguin name?
By the way, check out March 07’s catalog. With all those cool stuff! and the secrets!!! they’re WONDERFUL! I’ve always dreamed of wearing that Raincoat! and…. Here it is !! I wish I could tell the whole World about CP.
CLUB PENGUIN ROCKS THE UNIVERSE!!!!!!!!!! You people are nice no one ever said a bad word. Neither did I! not like those other websites… ENRICHED with bad words. And here they get spammed. Thank-Goodness!
Until Then… Waddle On!!
I am in 7th grade and go on Club Penguin. I think kids go on Club Penguin because there’s tons of games, there’s places to explore and visit, they can talk to other kids, and it’s completely safe with moderators and secret agents watching all the time. I am a secret agent and you have to be at least thirty days old. So, I watch to make sure everything’s alright.
It’s also kind of addicting, since they update the site with new decorations on the site every other month and hide new little pins around the site, which are just pictures of things you can put in the corner of your penguin picture. Also, it’s free, unless you want to become a member just so you can buy silly clothes with the coins you earn from games. That’s why I think kids go on Club Penguin. ![]()
Hey Zoufi, I once saw you in Club Penguin! I called you but you couldn’t see me! But, no problem, I can always find you, again! ![]()
wow, 510 on cart surfer! my mine game is ballistic bicuit, I get around 900 coins each go and once I got 1200
Hey Ya’ll! I play club penguin my self and my parents approved! I can assure you it IS safe! I know what ann means though, but, i think i have a solution. Maybe these penguins know each other in real life and their parents aprooved of there relationship. and what i think she means by “kissing” is the heart. As Aunt Artic said, It expressed there feelings in a fun way! well thats that! bye!
I can assure you that NO parents approved of the relationship…I’ve done that…nope…my paretns have no clue that Clubpenguin exists! So…yeah…Bye!
Hey, it’s me again! I can’t beleive it! My penguin’s birthday is this Sunday 11 March!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can not beleive it!! REALLY, it’s waaaay COOOOOL when it’s your penguin’s birthday!! Especially, if you had other items that other penguins don’t have!! Club Penguin ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Club Penguin is so nice that now, all my friends at class ( school) are playing it!!!
Until then… Waddle on!
Club Penguin is one of the best websites ive ever been on! A new thing ive seen though is ”trading penguins” i wanted to see what that was so i accepted. i told him where i live which unfortunatly is my password. he got on my account and bought about 2000 coins worth of stuff! i havr the feeling this is some creep trying to get me repoted and banned.
I like CP it’s one of the co0lest games I’ve ever played (that you can’t buy in stores
) and YOU CANT TIP THE ICEBURG OR KISS and all the adult worried, don’t because if you say anything bad you get banned.(Except for @$$) ![]()
And btw my name in CP actually is Arcaton and I’m on Mammoth or Aurora peace my holmezz \v/
-JoK3R was here ![]()
:-)
GO CLUB PENGUIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Emily,
Yes change your password immediately! ![]()
I am curious though. I should probably investigate more, but would I be correct in saying that you traded logins with someone else on your own and it’s not something that CP would condone right?
Yeah, i agree with the whole kissing thing. You really cant do it. the heart simply means, ” i like you” maybe they went to the pizza parlor or something! its not like they went somewhere to do “other things”
Well, Club Penguin is most likely safe. But some people just don’t follow the rules and it gets to be a real hassle… Then people start hacking and then they usually get banned… But never trade penguins if they do something really weird or stupid you will get the blame… Be sure to make your password with at least one CAPITAL letter and a few numbers mixed in just for safety…
For example: (This is a fake user name)
User name: Ice Cream8889
Password: cone
That would be really easy to guess… So make sure that you have a hard password and be sure to write it down somewhere. Instead of cone as a password for that user name they could have used something like “cOne783″ or something harder.
Another thing, If you see someone sliding across town or someone that has on an outfit before it is released just “report and ignore” them…
If your child or you are older than 13 years old a great fan site is Miniclip Club Penguin Forums… http://penguinforum.miniclip.com or The Penguin Posters… http://forums.penguinposters.net
Hi Notre, I agree with you about numbers and capital letters. My penguin’s password has a capital letter and is the tallest a password can be. Every week, I change my password (approximately). Like my old password was: MrsuperPenguin12! What do you think about that?? Don’t try to hack me. ‘Cause this is the OLD password. If you play Club Penguin, check out the party!!Weehah!
I love clubpenguin. If your kids love clubpenguin and want to talk about there account, tell them to join clubpenguinforums. Join at forums.penguinposters.net Or the forum I made about club penguin superpenguin.forumwise.com. Either one of those will be a nice place to talk about Club Penguin. Thank you.

Until then,
Waddle On!
HURRAY! i have the same B.day as you zoufi!
anyway, i’m gonna say it straight. club penguin is not 100% safe, but nothing is! the way i see it is kids are far safer playing CP than they going for a bike ride in the contry!
Byee!
ps hope i win the storie competion!
pps you think thats bad, ocen paw! i once wrote 19 pages when we were sopposed to wright 2 ): and i still wasn’t finished!
hi J
my child is 12 years old and she goes on club penguin. i believe it is a great place for my chile to connetct with her friends in stead of going on the phone or AIM. there is a safe chat, which is very safe. i researched that if someone says a swear on club penguin, then my child can report him or her and they are not allowed on club penguin. i believe this is a great site. my child is out of my hair. people say that the computer is addicting, but it is not. kids just like to have fun. i gave my child a 1 1/2 hour limit on the computer on weekdays for club penguin. this web site could to educational becuase people can talk to friends about home work. i would actually let my child go on this web site. thank you
Hi Kathy,
Thanks for sharing your insight with us. ![]()
I never really thought of CP being a place where kids could go and actually discuss homework with other friends, but if it works, then great!
Err…mabye everyone who is still following this conversation (including me) should stop saying how safe club penguin is because all the poeple who disagree (as far as a know) seemed to have gone away.
hi im allz1 (well thats my penguin name ) im 12 and cp is so great and it is safe
you can get banned for asking
1. what is your age
2. what is your adress (not what country you live in)
3. what is your telephone
4. what is your name
you are able to become a agent which means you get more help to bann people once you have been on club penguin for 35 days i think
SO CLUP PENGUIN IS 100% SAFE (well maybe more like 95% safe)
Yes club penguin is almost the best online game to ineracked(sorry for spelling only 11)with other kids. But you cant say its the worst. Ive mben a seceret agent for a long time but ive seen nothing wrong happening and yes u cant kiss.you can wave ,sit, and dance thats all.
my penguins name is wallbuls if you see me say hi.
CLUB PENGUIN ROCKS
How Just one thing, I have been player ClubPenguin for over a year and it is safe. So some little kids pretend there getting married ect there just having fun, CP has a very stricked filler which if you say a word not even that bad you will get banned. And it blocks out messages like “Where do you live” because I tried it with to computers. On one account I went “where do you live” and when I went to the other computer the penguin that I’d typed in “where do you live” was not saying it. I tried lots of things and it really is safe.
Now is you child having problems finding The pins or new items around the snowy world? Join penguinposters! We are a forum set up for small people ages from 5 Where they can get tips and ask stuff, talk about what they want Clubpenguin to add in and have there own say!
http://www.penguinposters.net -when Somone swears or says words even “crap” they WILL be banned and in stead of crap coming up **** will come up instead.
i have been using cp for about 5 months and it is safe…
i did have some problems the ones that Leigh (my mom) had mencioned…
but other than that i had fun it is great and no problems…
i do think that if somebody asks you your name ,age or anything relative you shuold not answer and if you do answer say something like:i’m inbetween 10 and 16 that is the saffest thing to do….about the name you should not say a thing…
i believe that cp should let people who are not members buy things ,upgrade igloos ec.i believe that it is a great site and if you know how to take certain cercomestances then you can enjoy it even more!(i may have some spelling mistakes!)

I agree with your post regarding Club Penguin. I had the same hesitation when my 9 yr old son wanted to become a member. Finally I found the community to be a good starting point, for my boy, to start writting a bit more. At first he would talk on the phone with te friends he knew to be online, but now will try and chat with others. All in all I would recomend this community to others as well.
