Summer Safety On the Internet

With school out for the Summer, kids will have a lot more time on their hands to surf the Web. If you haven’t already taken precautions, take a moment to at least lay down boundaries of accepted Internet use.
Here’s a few things to consider implementing and to discuss with your child:
- Be clear on what sites you find not acceptable for them to visit.
- Review and choose from a number of parental control software options. Some even offer free trials so you can keep looking if you try something you don’t like. Check out these.
- Agree on an appropriate amount of time for them to be online. Sitting in front of a computer all day long may seem appealing to teens, but they need exercise and other things to stimulate their minds.
- Check the browser’s history log. (
Ctrl-Hon most browsers should bring up a list of where they’ve been.)
