Site Review: NetSmartzKids
Parents looking for a way to introduce online safety tips to their children or perhaps reaffirm safe online behavior can start with NetSmartzKids®. This site is a branch of NetSmartz® which is an interactive, educational safety resource from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® (NCMEC) and Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) for children aged 5 to 17, parents, guardians, educators, and law enforcement that uses age-appropriate, 3-D activities to teach children how to stay safer on the Internet.
A lot of excellent work has been put into the making of this site for kids. Among the many great features this site has to offer are three friendly characters that relate to children. Clicky, Nettie and Webster are as funny and entertaining as they are educational. I find the use of these character well done because they speak at a level young kids understand without being corny.
Other features include providing tunes for kids to remember things about Internet safety. Want to find out what “UYN” means? Then click here. There are games galore and as many activities.
Everybody likes free stuff, right? Well, you have your choice of wallpapers, screensavers, audio files, and more. All are designed to keep Internet safety top of mind for youngers who like surfing the Web.
