Shaq Helps Protect Families Online

The Safe Surfin’ Foundation has signed up Shaquille O’Neal to be their spokesperson. The famous basketball player will be helping the foundation to educate parents and children about how to avoid becoming a victim to sexual predators and other online crimes.
This is a good move because Shaq is one of the few athletes that kids look up to (well, that can be taken both figuratively and literally). That’s what families need right now — a role model for good behavior.
The site has some interesting facts#:
- An estimated 77 million kids are online today, and many of those will visit the 44,000 chat rooms where they have a 100 percent chance of coming into contact with a sexual predator
- Three kids are reported missing to the FBI every two minutes
- Chat room and Instant Messaging are the primary tools of sexual predators

I think they chose their spokesperson well. He (Shaq) is very inspirational to my three sons.
Thanks for suggesting this site. I’ve been meaning to get more involved with my kids. I think this is the right time to do it. Nice site, btw!
