i-SAFE Gives Parents and Teachers the Tools They Need
i-SAFE.org is an organization that provides all types of Web users with information they need to surf the Web safely. In addition to providing age-appropriate materials for students, they also provide material for parents and teachers to become certified in Internet safety for free.
I’m particularly interested in that last part because my children’s school is currently planning on offering Internet safety tips to students as well as the parents. Wanting to be a part of that I’ve found i-SAFE’s materials to be easy and informative so far.
Everything can be done online and is free. As you view the online videos (many of which only last five or six minutes), your progress is tracked and you can move on to the next chaper. Completes the curriculum and you’ll be provided a link to download materials to distribute to your school or community.
Personally, I’ve only just started the training, but from what I can tell, it won’t be a time hog. Plus, the promise of being given materials to give to other interested parents is quite an attraction for me.
So, if you’ve been looking for a way to help spread the word about Internet safety, visit i-SAFE.org and take a look around. And, if you don’t mind, spreading the word about Family WebWatch would be much appreciated.
