FWW Spotlight #2

This edition of FWW Spotlight focuses on summer reading for kids. Sure, they’ll want to surf the Web to play games, or IM with their friends. But there’s no substitute for reading a good book to make sure their brain’s are in working order by summer’s end. :)

CommonSense Book ReviewsOne place I highly recommend is CommonSense Media. You may remember them from my first spotlight, but this time I couldn’t resist digging a little deeper to highlight their book reviews. You can sort on age appropriateness, overall rating, and other criteria. Their list of books has a rating system so you can quickly identify what’s good and what’s not so good about a book. It even provides reader comments to read or for you to submit your own.

And of course, there’s Amazon with their collection of books for kids. And don’t forget, the last chapter of Harry Potter is coming out in July, so you’ll want to pre-order that one.

CommonSense Book ReviewsLast, but not least, there’s Reading Rockets. A site geared more toward parents with younger readers, you can find book suggestions, tips on getting your child excited about reading, how to even teach your child to read. This one really is worth bookmarking.
