Buh-bye to The Good Blogs

I get a little badge/widget happy, it’s true. When I find something that looks useful to either myself or my readers, I’m likely to find space for it on my blog. The Good Blogs is one such doo-hickey.

I’ve had it in my sidebar to the right for at least a few months. According to Google Analytics, I haven’t received any traffic from it unless it falls under “other”. So I’ve decided to remove it, at least for a little while, so I can see if there’s a difference in the “other” traffic. I’ve got my eye on BumpZee’s widget, so maybe I’ll give it a try.

If I were you I would have gotten rid of the Spicy Page widget. How much traffic are you getting from them? If you’ve got 60 votes then you should have at least 60 hits right? I’m guessing, from my experience, you won’t find more than a handful of traffic from them. Just my $.02.

You know, Nathan, that’s a good point. I imagine that the people voting for me are those who are ON Spicypage rather than doing it from here. And just like The Good Blogs, I don’t see anything specifying traffic from them either. So good suggestion. I’ll be doing some trimming tonight. Thanks!

You know what…I’ve never used that dumb widget either. I never even set up my “miniblog” on it, so I don’t even know why I still have it installed.

Same with SpicyPages, I never installed that widget, but it just didn’t look promising to me.

I use mybloglog & just installed blogcatalog, I think those generate more traffic. You’ve motivated me, I’m going to get rid of TheGoodBlogs widget.

Hehe…glad to be of help. In fact, I’ve had recent discussion with Tyme over at 9rules about the questionable value of these widgets. I’m re-evaluating these things if for no other reason than to simply make the download faster (which is always a good thing). I’ve noticed that MBL is downloading slowly lately.
