A Sexual Predator Walks Away Free

What does it say about our society when an individual (a sexual predator in this case) grooms a 12-year old girl for sexual acts, gets caught by police and then months later ends up not being prosecuted?
That’s what happened to Patrick Dangel of Albuquerque , NM. He’s a 32-year old man, father of two, who thought he was soliciting sex to a 12-year old girl. This “girl” was in reality an undercover cop. They met in a chat room. The story goes that their first conversation immediately switched to a sexual nature. You can find out more in the article.
So why was he let go? Well, after law enforcement gave the case to the district attorney, it sat there for four months. The DA wanted a grand jury to try the case; the jury never heard the evidence, so he, Dangel, packed his bags and skipped his way back home.
The real shocker is that the DA didn’t think he actually committed a crime. It may be illegal to solicit sex to a 12-year old girl, but when that girl is really an undercover cop, it somehow becomes all right because they’re both adults.
Are you kidding me!! The man wanted to be sexually involved with a 12-year old girl! Once he setup a time to meet with her, the crime had already been committed. Geesh! It seems to me the defense attorney was more interested in keeping his client out of prison than to do the right thing. Sometimes that means your client goes to prison.
Since when did the meaning of a fair trial equate to getting off scot-free?

You’re not alone, Ken! This aggravates me so much. I mean how are we supposed to trust our justice system when they start doing stupid stuff like this?
